Rev. Dr. Jim Stone has served as pastor in upstate New York churches ranging from small town to inner-city, including inter-racial and international congregations in full-time, bi-vocationaland interim positions. He was the Director of Mental Health for the Syracuse Rescue Mission, and is currently serving as a chaplain in the Hutchings Psychiatric Center. He earned his B.A. in Psychology from SUNY Potsdam, M. Div. from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and D.Min. in Marriage and Family Ministry from Eastern Baptist (now Palmer) Theological Seminary.
Jim is an Associate Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation (ICF), and serves on the board of the Upstate New York Chapter of ICF. He is a member of the Christian Coaches Network International (CCNI), and is the facilitator of CCNI’s Missions Coaching Learning Community. He has a special interest in bi-vocational and marketplace ministry. As a pastor, leader and coach Jim is committed to guiding, encouraging and equipping God’s people as they pursue God’s will and a deeper relationship with him.
Jim enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren. His oldest son, Tim was born with severe disabilities, and was not expected to survive but lived to be 34. Tim constantly surprised and inspired many by the way he lived and enjoyed life. Jim’s daughter, Katie and son, Dan are both physical therapists. Dan is in the Air Force. Jim’s youngest daughter, Nikki was adopted from Vietnam when she was three and a half. Jim’s other interests include meeting new people, exploring new places, swimming, hiking and hanging out with friends.
