Ellie McConnaughy, Ph.D

Consulting Psychologist & Vocational Counselor

Dr. Ellie McConnaughy is a dynamic trainer and clinical psychologist, skilled at coaching groups and individuals. She has worked with clients dealing with anxiety and trauma in her private clinical practice for more than 20 years. Her coaching experiences include working with both individuals and groups in school, business, community, and ministerial settings. She is expert at facilitating groups for both learning and personal development. Dr. McConnaughy was a lecturer in psychology at the University of Rhode Island, and an adjunct professor at Dean College. Within Toastmasters International, she holds the rank of “Distinguished Toastmaster” and was voted “Area Governor of the Year.” With the Dale Carnegie Corporate Training program, she helped  facilitate classes and won the “Highest Award for Achievement.” She has also held a leadership role as part of the Landmark Education personal transformation program. When working with clients, Dr. McConnaughy values the importance of the spiritual part of people’s lives. She has led and participated in numerous Bible studies. She has created and taught classes to help people live closer to God and to be more open to God’s guidance and love. She has been part of a prayer ministry for many years, and has served on the governing board of her home church.


Dr. McConnaughy was a key researcher on the transtheoretical Stages of Change model, and she has published and presented research extensively. She also presents workshops on relationships and healthy living, and delivers sermons at her home church. She is currently teaching a Bible study and writing a companion book entitled The Comfort of Jesus.
