On any given day you’re discussing everything from salaries and budgets, to volunteer opportunities, to church maintenance or childcare plans and still finding time to minister to your congregation. Doing all of this, as a primary staff person in a church, is no easy feat and we want to help.
Aspirants and Candidates
If you’re in the ordination process, your denomination or judicatory may send you our way. Our staff regularly counsels candidates and aspirants seeking ministry standing using extensive vocational and psychological assessments as well as focused conversation with both a vocational counselor and a psychologist over the course of two days.

Founded by the American Baptist Churches USA to provide career development services for its personnel, the Center opened in 1968 as the Center for the Ministry. In 1972, the New England Career Development Center was established to provide services for the personnel of other religious denominations.
