Rev. Dr. Tamara Henry is an ordained American Baptist clergywoman and Certified Professional Coach (CPC) with a passion for helping emerging ministry leaders grow with clarity, confidence and purpose. Using a strengths-based, holistic and client-centered approach grounded in empathy , Dr Henry supports clients, especially early and mid-career professionals, as they navigate transitions, overcome barriers, and align their work with their values and true calling. Her coaching is rooted in deep listening, thoughtful questions and clear accountability, helping clients make wise decisions, strengthen leadership capacity, and align daily choices with long-term purpose.
With more than two decades of experience across higher education, community mental health, workforce development, and congregational ministry, Dr. Henry brings a keen understanding of the systems and interpersonal dynamics that shape leadership and well-being. She is also the founder of Sunrize Motivation, Training and Consultation Inc, a coaching, speaking and consulting practice, and a sought-after speaker and facilitator for local and national audiences across denominational lines.
Dr. Henry currently serves as the Minister to Youth and Families of the Lenox Road Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York, and previously served as the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Academic Dean at New York Theological Seminary.
Dr. Henry earned a Bachelor of Arts in American Government from Georgetown University, followed by a Master’s in Social Work and Master’s in Religious Education from Fordham University. She also completed her PhD from Fordham University where her research intersects womanist theology, youth popular culture, and pedagogical practice.
